Here is the video from on the Europe Trip.
The show is called Bon Appetit. It is produced by Salomon and I had the opportunity to ski with MSP star Cody Towsend, the fastest skier on earth Cedric Pugin and some crazy Frenchies – Victor Galuchot and Fabien Maierhofer.
The video includes the first ski BASE off the Matterhorn. Probably the gnarliest ski BASE off my life and also biggest close call… but also the Aiguille Croche with an avalanche on our tail and the Argentiere glacier in Chamonix.
It is in French but you will get it I am sure!
All the images alone will make it obvious how scary and humbling it was…
Also, the trip allowed us to get a lot of images for my upcoming documentary entitled “In The Shadow Of Giants”.
Enjoy the spring pow!

I arrived in Geneva on March 5th and the week started off very well with the 2nd descent ever of the Aiguille Croche in Megeve France. After doing it last year in nasty conditions, I decided to get it done with perfect weather and to top it all, we shot it from a speedflyer flown by my friend Stefan Laude.

We dropped in the face and the first 5 turns were on pretty bad snow but after that, it was the best pow of my life.

As we charged the face it started sliding but we were going so fast that we were able to outrun the slide catch 600ft of air and fly safely into the valley and over the spray of the avalanche.

The following day involved skiing off in Chamonix (Argentiere) but jumping in front of the serac of the Argentiere glacier and landing near the crevasses at the bottom.

We got two descents in and the camera crew was super STOKED!

We took a day off after that and headed to Magland to jump off a 1500ft cliff to do a regular BASE jump and then headed to ski in Zermatt, Switzerland.

We met with Simon Anthamatten, Swiss mountain guide and brother of Samuel from the Freeride World Tour. We booked a heli ride with Air Zermatt to do the first ski BASE off the Matterhorn (Mont Cervin in French).

As we arrive, I quickly realized that the mountain is a big pile of rocks more than a nice snow field.

The pilot winched us down onto the face since he couldn’t land and we found a nice diving board following a direct line through the rocks.

The line looked good from the heli and when I dropped in, it was a really fast line to the edge.

Unfortunately, a rock that was hidden behind the jump hit my right ski.

It came off and sent me in a double mistyflip/cork 720. I managed to pull my chute in between flips and get out of a few line twists.

The rest was a sweet flight into the valley. This mountain is made for climbing not skiing but at least I can cross it off the list!

It was a very humbling experience and a wake up call. Even when analyzing mountains and doing your homework, the smallest thing can throw you off and turn your sweet ride into a highway to hell.

Next we are heading to the European X Games in Tignes to ski a few lines with Victor Galuchot and Fabien Maierhofer – stars of the show Bon Appetit, produced by Nico Favre.

After that, it will be time to go relax in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland for some BASE jumping and go back to the US on the 20th to pack my bags again and head to Red Mountain, BC on the 24th to attend The Gathering at Red Mountain with Powder Magazine and present a video!

Last month has been filled with excitement! I got back on skis early January after a knee surgery and it felt like I was on skis yesterday. The snow conditions have been very inconsistent in Utah for the last month but I have been having a blast skiing.

Skiing is just RAD. No matter what happens in your life or what the conditions are, it always gets you fired up.

BASE jumping does the same for that matter! I have received a new rig actually from POKEWARE and I have been getting back on the horse and sending it! We have some fun projects lined up for this season as well and I can hardly wait to fly through the air with skis and a parachute…

In the meantime, enjoy this shot from ESPN Freeskiing and have fun in the mountains!

Sven Brunso writes about our experience in Norway and skiing with the midnight sun in the Lyngen Alps and makes fun of my wiener.
Happy Holiday and see you soon on the mountain!

ADRENALINE Episode 11 just aired live in France today and I just received the link from JG Charrier.

The episode includes the trailer of the movie Up and Down which is touring in Europe right now and has been getting thousands of spectators at every stop and will be featured at the Amsterdam Freeride Film Festival.
The trailer is followed by the back stage footage of the Eiger ski BASE (which is also in the movie).

Zach Carbo , member of the elite skydiving team The Black Dagger, just made an edit with some of my 2010 helmet cam footage shot with GoPro Hero HD.

So, kick back, relax and enjoy the footage!

Santa came early this year and dropped a box of brand new Leki products. This is my 6th season with Leki and I have to say that from one year to the other, I keep getting more and more impressed by the quality of the products.

This year, aside from outstanding quality, Leki has developed a new Freeride Collection with amazing graphics and new features.

I had the opportunity to ski the Rodeo Vario Speedlock for a month touring and heliskiing everyday at the end of the season in Iceland and Norway and I was really impress by the Speedlock system. This system does not lose tension and the pole stays in position. We have all experienced old locking system with a twist – not reliable. This is not an issue anymore. It is strong and easy to use.

I would also recommend checking out other models such as the Project 19 and Blast for more classical poles but still featuring the Trigger system.

So, open the link below, and have your credit card ready. It is worth every penny!
